What the PMP test is — and how a practice test helps you pass it

The PMP test — properly, the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam — is PMI's certification exam for project managers. It's 180 questions in 230 minutes spanning predictive, agile, and hybrid project management, and it's known for scenario questions that reward judgment over memorization. First-attempt pass rates hover around 40–45%.

That's why smart candidates take a PMP practice test early and often. A good practice test does more than hand you a score: it reveals your weak domains, gets you comfortable with the timing and question style, and tells you whether you're actually ready — before you spend hundreds of dollars sitting the real thing.

Our practice tests are free during early access. Each one is timed, scored by domain, and paired with plain-English explanations, then feeds a readiness score so you always know your next move. And because everything is aligned to the 2026 PMBOK® 8 exam, you practise the format you'll really face.

PMP test FAQ

"PMP test" usually means the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam — PMI's certification exam for project managers — or a practice test that simulates it. The real exam has 180 questions to be answered in 230 minutes and covers predictive, agile, and hybrid project management. A PMP practice test is a shorter, scored simulation you use to gauge your readiness.

The official PMP exam gives you 230 minutes to answer 180 questions, with a couple of short breaks. From July 9, 2026 the exam is extended by about 10 minutes to accommodate new question types. Our practice tests come in shorter, timed sets so you can build stamina without booking off a whole afternoon.

PMI's official exam fee is about US $405 for members and US $575 for non-members (membership itself is around US $159/year, which can lower the exam fee). Our PMP practice test is free during early access — a no-risk way to see where you stand before you pay for the real thing.

Very much so. With a first-attempt pass rate around 40–45%, walking in cold is expensive and stressful. A scored practice test shows your weak domains, gets you used to the timing and scenario style, and — paired with study — is one of the best predictors of whether you're ready to pass.

A practice test is usually shorter and focused on quick feedback and learning; a full mock exam replicates the entire 180-question experience end to end. We offer both — start here with quick practice tests, then move to full mock exams and our practice question bank as you get closer to exam day.
