1.1 — Demonstrate Your Knowledge and Awareness of the Regulations, Codes and Standards Used in Canada or the International Standard Equivalence. This Includes Local Engineering Procedures and Practices as Applicable.
Situation
129 / 300At ABCD Canada, I prepared an AFE for dedicated jib cranes and mold installation/ removal tooling for Lines ABC and XYZ.
Action Taken
1168 / 1650I reviewed the crane and mold removal tooling AFE against the main Canadian and Ontario requirements applicable to an industrial lifting-device installation. I considered the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act for employer and supervisor duties related to worker instruction, supervision, hazard communication, and reasonable precautions. I also considered O. Reg. 851 for Industrial Establishments, particularly the requirements related to lifting devices, rated capacity, competent operation, hazardous energy control, machine isolation, and fall protection where applicable. Because the scope involved a jib crane and crane support installation, I flagged the need for Engineering and EHS to confirm Pre-Start Health and Safety Review applicability before execution. I also used CSA B167 as the relevant Canadian reference for overhead cranes, hoists, and jib cranes. Based on this review, I included requirements for LOTO, contractor safety, working-at-height review, safe load path confirmation, equipment access, SOP development, rated-load and nameplate confirmation, proof-load testing, inspection records, and operator training before project launch.
Outcome
174 / 300The AFE package identified applicable Ontario/ Canadian requirements and required engineering, EHS, rated-load and nameplate, proof-load and training controls before installation.
