The human pass

One review while you write. One before you submit.

The AI reviewer runs on every version, instantly. A licensed Professional Engineer reads the finished thing once — line by line, against the gaps assessors reject submissions for.

  • Three tiers: up to 10, up to 22, or all 34 competencies
  • Turnaround target: five business days
  • One complimentary virtual meeting with your reviewer included

What a human reviewer adds

An AI reviewer is excellent at the things that are checkable: is the individual contribution separable, is there an outcome, does this read as a job description, does it fit the character limit. It runs instantly and as often as you like, which is exactly what you want while you are still writing.

What it cannot do is bring judgment about how a particular regulator's assessors have actually behaved. A licensed P.Eng who has read hundreds of these knows which examples look strong on paper and get questioned anyway, which competencies applicants routinely under-evidence, and when the honest advice is 'this project will not carry this competency, use the other one'.

So the two are positioned at different moments. Iterate with the AI reviewer. Book the human one when the application is essentially done and you want a verdict before the regulator gives you theirs.

How the review works

  1. 1

Pick the tier that matches your submission

Up to 10, up to 22, or all 34 competencies, with live pricing read from the Stripe product so what you see is what you are charged.

  2. 2

    Export and send

Export the full application as one branded report so your reviewer reads everything in catalog order, sections labelled.

  3. 3

    A P.Eng reads every competency

Comments anchored to your Situation–Action–Outcome, checking individual contribution, technical depth and outcome evidence, and flagging the gaps assessors most often reject submissions for.

  4. 4

    Talk it through

One complimentary virtual meeting with your reviewer is included, so you can ask about the comments rather than interpreting them alone.

What makes this worth booking

A meeting, not just a document

Written comments answer 'what is wrong'. Fifteen minutes with the person who wrote them answers 'what should I do about it', which is the harder question.

Five business days

A turnaround target you can plan a submission date around, rather than an open-ended queue.

Discounted for plan holders

Buying a CBA Pro plan mints a one-time discount code automatically — 10% on Foundation, 20% on Progression and Professional.

Live pricing

Tier prices are read from the live Stripe product rather than a page someone remembered to update.

When a human review is worth it — and when it isn't

It is worth it when the submission is finished or nearly finished, when you have had a rejection before, when a significant share of your experience is from outside Canada, or when the cost of a resubmission cycle — in months, not dollars — is high for you.

It is not worth it yet if half your competencies are still unwritten. A reviewer reading an incomplete application spends their time on things you would have fixed anyway. Finish the writing, run the submit-readiness grade over everything, fix what it flags, and then book.

For applicants who already had a CBA returned with assessor comments, the calculation is different again — there the value is in decoding what the comments actually mean and deciding which examples to replace rather than patch. CertNova runs that as its own service, separate from the pre-submission review.

This was a wonderful experience. Hossein and Jenny were very helpful and prompt to reply to my emails and questions. Hossein got on a call with me before enrolling just to answer my questions. The review for my CBA questions was detailed, thorough with clear direction on what needs to be done to improve, which made it very easy for me to fix my answers. They gave me a time for looking into my CBA questions. They ended up delivering earlier than promised. Finally, they are very fairly priced. Definitely recommend their service for anyone looking to get someone to assess their CBA answers.

In short

CertNova's Review by P.Eng is a human review of a completed Competency-Based Assessment: a licensed Professional Engineer reads every competency in the booked tier (up to 10, up to 22, or all 34), comments against the applicant's Situation–Action–Outcome, checks individual contribution, technical depth and outcome evidence, and flags the gaps assessors most often reject submissions for. Turnaround target is five business days and one complimentary virtual meeting with the reviewer is included. CBA Pro plan purchasers receive an automatic one-time discount code (10% on Foundation, 20% on Progression and Professional). It complements the in-app AI reviewer, which runs on every draft version while the applicant is still writing.
