What a human reviewer adds
An AI review is good at the things that are checkable: is the individual contribution separable, is there an outcome, does this read as a job description, does it fit the character limit. It runs whenever you ask, which is exactly what you want while you are still writing.
What it cannot do is bring judgment about how a particular regulator's assessors have actually behaved. A licensed P.Eng who has read hundreds of these knows which examples look strong on paper and get questioned anyway, which competencies applicants routinely under-evidence, and when the honest advice is 'this project will not carry this competency, use the other one'.
So the two are positioned at different moments. Iterate with the AI review. Book the human one when the application is essentially done and you want an expert read before the regulator's.

When a human review is worth it, and when it isn't
It is worth it when the submission is finished or nearly finished, when you have had a rejection before, when a significant share of your experience is from outside Canada, or when a resubmission cycle would cost you months you cannot spare.
It is not worth it yet if half your competencies are still unwritten. A reviewer reading an incomplete application spends their time on things you would have fixed anyway. Finish the writing, run the submit-readiness grade over everything, fix what it flags, and then book.
For applicants who already had a CBA returned with assessor comments, the calculation is different again: there the value is in decoding what the comments actually mean and deciding which examples to replace rather than patch.
