Why the formatting is part of the product
Before your competency-based assessment reaches an assessor, it gets read by you, by a mentor and perhaps by a reviewer, usually more than once. Consistent structure, clear section labels and a document that looks like it was produced deliberately all reduce the effort of each of those reads, and a better read catches more.

Embedded assets
The letterhead logo ships inside the generator. An export cannot half-fail because an image request timed out.
Two formats, one layout
The Word file and the PDF are typeset the same way, so what you proof is what you send regardless of which one you send.
Section labels survive
Situation, Action and Outcome stay labelled in the export. Readers skim for them, and a wall of unlabelled prose makes that harder than it needs to be.
Per-competency is a first-class option
Sending one example to a mentor should not mean sending your entire application history.
Getting your CBA out of the tool and into the submission
Most regulators collect competency examples through an online portal with per-field character limits rather than as an uploaded document. That does not make the export redundant: it makes it the working copy. Applicants proof the PDF, get a mentor to read it, then copy it field by field into the portal.
Because a competency cannot be marked complete in CBA Pro while any section is over the limit set for your association, the portal step should be uneventful for completed competencies. Painful submission nights usually start with discovering that examples written in a word processor run well over the field limit.

You can also export a draft that is still in progress; check its counters first. Either way, your portal's own counter is the final word, so glance at it as you copy each section in.
