CBA Guide

What Are My Steps to Get My P.Eng. in Canada?

To get your P.Eng. license in Canada, you’ll need to complete the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA). CBA evaluates your engineering experience across 22 to 34 competencies (depending on your association) in 6 to 7 categories—covering technical skills, communication, ethics, and professional judgment.

It ensures you’re ready to practice safely and responsibly by showing that you can:

  • Apply engineering knowledge with confidence
  • Recognize your professional limits
  • Seek support or growth when needed
